Plus House Larvik,
Norway
The architects at Snøhetta design company
in Norway designed and then built Plus
House Larvik, which is a Zero Emission
Building (ZEB). That means it produces
energy without producing any waste. For
example, when it’s sunny, the solar panel
roof collects energy. This way the house
has both electricity and heating. When it
rains, a special system collects rainwater.
People can use this water around the
house as well as to water trees and flowers
in the yard. The solar energy and water the
house collects in one year is actually more
than it needs. The design of the house won
the WAN Sustainable Building 2015 award.
Architects are excited about this idea, and
they believe people could start living in
these types of houses soon. If we build
more houses like this one, the world will
be greener.
